The current All Progressives Congress (APC) and National Assembly crisis has heightened our impatience and created impression of national standstill as opposed to the immediate change acceleration expected. Waiting perpetually for a perfect time

By Goke Ilesanmi

As human beings, we almost always like to wait for a perfect time to take necessary action about our plans. Is there any time called “Perfect”? I need your answer, please. Some years ago, a friend of mine bought a car and got a man to drive it and also teach him driving because he could not drive. As expected, whenever the man wanted to teach my friend, the learner sign “L” would be hung on the number plate with the driver sitting beside him and guiding him. Surprisingly, after one year of learning, my friend was still using the “L” sign and totally dependent on the driver to guide him while driving. I was compelled to ask why he was still using the “L” sign and could not drive unguided. He said he wanted to PERFECT his driving skills even when the driver had been encouraging him to be driving alone. Read the rest of this entry

There is need to break the barrier of primitive persuasion and embrace application of effective persuasion if we must move forward as a nation, as individuals, organisations, etc. This is because persuasion is key to general harmony. Persuasion is simply about convincing other people. It is commendable that after the unimpressive performance at the just-concluded general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took stock of its electoral fortunes and admitted that, among other things, the intensity of its hate campaigns (primitive persuasion) accounted for its misfortune at the poll. The fact remains that apart from PDP, other political parties and politicians are also guilty of hate campaigns one way or another. Read the rest of this entry

ADVERSITYLife is indeed full of ups and downs that are often inevitable. These ups and downs can be summarised as “Adversity”, that is, a situation in which one has a lot of problems. Most times, adversity is destined to advertise your latent potential or ability.
As a young boy, I had always thought adversity was a very bad aspect of life until I was proved wrong one day. My mother sent me on an errand to a friend’s house and there was a fierce dog there that was always ready to prevent your entry. Despite the possibility of the dog’s attack, I took the risk of going there because of the respect for my mother and exceptional generosity of her friend, which even made a friend of mine to accompany there. We were about entering the house when the dog suddenly came out from its hiding place, barking repeatedly and pursuing us desperately. Read the rest of this entry

Electronic mail, called e-mail for short, is a system that allows people to send messages to each other by computer. E-mail makes everything easier and faster including making a powerful business impression and establishing positive professional relationships. The businessperson who uses the technology effectively and appropriately will see the results of that effort reflected in the bottom line. But it must be stressed that you cannot substitute e-mail for one-on-one communication. So, use e-mail for scheduling, routine updating and other administrative efficiencies; and the phone or face-to-face communication for everything else. Read the rest of this entry
